Recycle today, for a better tomorrow.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

That is the mantra, but note that Recycle is the last of the three R's. We encourage you to reduce your consumption of materials, reuse what can, and as the last step, recycle. In a 'throw away' society where plastic and other materials are seemingly designed for single use, we accumulate large amounts of everything from plastic to cardboard to aluminum with much of it ending up in landfills and incinerators. Recycling not only diverts materials from our landfills, it helps protect our health and our environment by reducing fossil fuel use and reduces the amount of raw materials that need to be extracted from the earth. This in turn reduces air and water pollution keeping our communities clean and liveable.

At the Athens-Hocking Recycling Center we are striving to accept more types of materials (with the recent addition of #1 through #7 Plastics)  and we are expanding our services outside of the municipalities to include the rural areas to encourage even more recycling.

We greatly appreciate the effort that many people put forth to transport their recycling to either our main facility or one of the many drop off locations throughout Athens and Hocking Counties.
